Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop

Hey Everyone!

This months hop is a homage to Bettie Page.  I love that Alison picked this theme in honor of Bettie Page's 89th birthday on April 22nd!

You should have arrived here from Torrey's blog, if not please start at the Bombshell Blog (the beginning) so you don't miss any of these awesome Bombshell projects!

For my project, I really wanted to use one of Bettie's quotes.  So, I handwrote the quote and added a few things as a homage to her.

The cheetah print represents one of her famous photos of her posing with cheetahs.  The leather bow and handcuffs represent her more risque photos.  The Bombshell Pin-Up Stamp is a representation of Bettie Page and all of the Pin-Ups (and really everyone) she's inspired and influenced.

I used pop dots to add some dimension.

Usually I leave white around my stamped image when I cut it out, but for this project I tried out Katie's tip for cutting out a stamped image, and I must say I love the results!

The roses are from Rose's Portrait and Mi Amor.

Hope you liked my gift box tribute to Bettie Page.  Please continue on to Alaine's blog - that's your next stop on the hop!

Rockin' Magnets - eCraft Design Team Tuesday

Using my eCraft and Xyron tools, I made these quick and easy magnets for my fridge!  I seriously can not stress enough how easy these were to make.  And fun too!  Read on below for the tutorial.

Supplies:
Cardstock - I used Bazzill Basics Paper - Vintage Marketplace & Recollections (white and black)
Color Box by Clearsnap in black
SVG Cuts - Rockin and Rollin SVG Kit (records, music note, jukebox, car) and 24 Valentines SVG Kit (treble clef)
scissors
xacto knife

First I cut out the svg's with my eCraft.  From SVG Cuts Rockin and Rollin kit I resized and then cut out the 33 record at 3 inches wide, the 45 record at 2 inches wide, the car at 4 inches wide, the jukebox at 3.5 inches wide, the music note at 1.25 inches wide and from 24 Valentines SVG kit, the treble clef at 3 inches wide.  Then I inked the edges of my images with black ink. Next, I took the pieces that I wanted to adhere together and ran them through my Xyron 5 inch Creative Station using the Permenant refill and pieced them together.  I also used the mega runner to glue down the small pieces.
After all the svg images were assembled, I changed the Creative Station's refill to the Laminate Magnet refill.  I put the shapes through the Creative Station and ended up with sheets of magnets of the svg images.

The svg shape is  now sandwiched between the magnet and the laminate.  If you see any parts of the laminate that are raised just run your finger over it and press it down and that should help it adhere to your shape. (Try to stick with svg's that don't have too many layers.  The less layers the better the laminate will stick.  In this case, the flatter the better.)

Next, I trimmed off the excess magnet/laminate with my scissors and xacto knife right down to the edge of my shapes.

Yay! The magnets are now done!  This project was so quick and easy, the hardest part I had was picking out which cardstock I wanted to use.

Don't forget to thank your eCraft and Xyron tools for helping you make some awesome magnets for your fridge!

Bombshell Altered Bulletin Board

Hey Everyone!

Ms. April's Challenge over at Bombshell Stamps is to bring out your alter ego!  How? By creating an altered project using your Bombshell Stamps.  I had this old bulletin board lying around that I never use, it was screaming out, 'alter me!'   And it was altered.

It went from a plain 'ol board to a fabulous Bombshell board.  I love how it turned out, and I definitely will be using it now.

Here it is! Complete with bottle cap push pins.  Read on below for a quick tutorial.

Supplies:
Bulletin Board
Painter's Tape
Acrylic Paint - I used My Studio Acrylic paint in Turquoise and Sizzle Pink
Paint Brush / Paint Sponge
Bombshell Stamps - Sugar Skulls, Classic Tattoo Font, Ahoy Sailor, Classic Tattoo
Copic Markers
Bottle Caps
White Cardstock
1 inch Circle Punch - I used one by EK Success and it fit perfectly into the bottle caps
Push Pins
Staz-On Ink
E6000 glue

First I dusted off that old bulletin board -
As you can see, I took a picture after I already put a piece of tape down.

Next - I arranged my painters tape in the pattern I wanted.

In the middle of the diamond like shapes is where I painted the turquoise.  (I say diamond like because mine isn't entirely even, I'm okay with that though.)

After the turquoise paint dried, I peeled off the painter's tape and in the area that is still bulletin board brown I painted in Sizzle Pink.  Once the pink had dried, I painted the frame portion turquoise.  I did need more than one coat of each color (probably about 4-5 coats of paint).  When I make this again, I think I may use a primer first.

Once all your paint has dried, go ahead and stamp your images onto the bulletin board with Staz-On Ink.  I used the Sugar Skulls Stamp Set.
Your bulletin board is now ready for some serious push pin action!  To make the push pins, I simply stamped my Bombshell Stamps onto white cardstock and colored them with my copic markers.  I then punched out the part of the image I wanted with my 1 inch circle punch and glued the back of the image into the bottle cap.  Once that dried, I adhered the bottle cap to the top of the push pin with E6000 glue, and let it dry overnight.

And there you have it, a fun and bright Bombshelled up Bulletin Board.

Also, the little note on the board is plain white cardstock with two Bombshell stamps at the top. Stamps make plain paper more fun!

Thanks for looking, and be sure to check out the Bombshell Stamps Blog to see all of the Bombshell Ladies' awesome altered projects!  Don't forget to link up your own altered Bombshell project also!

eCraft Design Team Project - Challange Week - Earth Day Recycling

Happy Earth Day!

Okay, so it might not be Earth Day until Sunday, but today I have a cool project to share that you can create by re-using and recycling a few supplies.

These old glass jars make great vases!  The heart can be customized and the ribbon detaches easily so you can wash the jar or switch up your designs!  Real flowers would look great in these jars, but since I didn't have any on hand, I re-used some flowers from another project I did.  The flower svg is from SVGAttic. They are attached to bendable straws by the heart brads in the center.

Supplies for the Jar Vases:
-2 Glass Jars (I re-used pasta sauce jars)
-chipboard (I used a cereal box for this, it cuts great with the eCraft)
-Cardstock - Red (The Paper Company) and White (Recollections) - These were leftover 5x12 inch pieces of cardstock that I had leftover from other projects
-Ribbon - 2 pieces for each jar (4 total) - the length will depend on the jar you are using
-SVG's - heart (I used SCAL3 shapes); Banners by Lori Whitlock
-Xyron 5 inch Creative Station with permanent refill and Mega Runner
-Black Dual Marker -Tsukineko Memento Markers
-Inks: Colorbox Mini by Clearsnap in Black and Chianti; Staz-On in Black
-Velcro
-Hot Glue Gun
-Measuring Tape

The How-To:

First, wash and clean your jars.  The adhesive from the label was really hard to remove on the jars I used, so I did need to use an adhesive remover.
Next, you will need to measure around your jar so you will know how much ribbon to cut, be sure to add about a half inch to your total so you have room for the ribbon to overlap for the Velcro.
Take your flower stamp and stamp the image all along the length of the ribbon with Staz-On Ink.
Allow that to dry while we finish the next steps.

With your eCraft cut out 2 hearts (at 3 inches wide) and 2 banners out of chipboard (the MOM banner was cut out at 3.35 inches wide and the LOVE banner at 4 inches wide).  I cut these out of a cereal box using Pressure 6, no cardstock stabilizer and 0 tabs.
Next, cut out 4 hearts in red cardstock and 2 pieces of each banner in white cardstock using the same widths as you cut your chipboard pieces.

For the heart, adhere one piece of red cardstock to the front of a chipboard heart and one to the back using your Xyron 5 inch Creative Station.  Do the same for the next heart and the 2 banners.  Once these are all done ink the edges of the heart in red ink and the banners with black ink.  Using your marker, write your words on the banners.  You could always use stamps for this part instead too!  After your words and ink are dry, adhere the banner on top of the heart using the Xyron Mega Runner.

Wrap your ribbon around your jar so you can see exactly where you need to attach the velcro.  Attach the velcro on all your pieces.

For the first jar, take one end of both (two) pieces of ribbon and make sure your velcro is facing away from you.  Hot glue one end of the ribbon to the back of the heart.  Do the same with your 2nd heart and 2 pieces of ribbon.

Now all you have left to do is add some flowers and this makes a great gift for yourself or a loved one.

Hope you liked this project and if you have any questions please ask!

Don't forget you can always customize the image you use too.  These would look awesome with music notes or guitars with birthday banners.

Have a great Tuesday!

Spring Showers and Flowers - eCraft Tuesday Design Team Project

I adore this silhouette of Ella with her umbrella!  I purchased this image a while ago at eCraft Central but had quite a difficult time deciding on what I wanted to create with it.  With spring here now, I was inspired to make a shadow box using Ella.

Supplies:
eCraft
Programs: eCraft Shop Pro and SCAL3
SVG's:  5x7 Shadow Box Frame by Lori Whitlock; Umbrella Ella Silhouette, Flowers, Rain Cloud by Craftwell at eCraft Central
Brads:  American Crafts - (you will need 1 brad for each flower, I used a total of 17 brads)
Cardstock: Hello Spring Mini Theme by Echo Park (patterned paper); Recollections (black/white cardstock)
Inks: Colorbox - Cape Cod, Plum Berry, Shabby Pink, Banana Custard, Violet, Lilac, Orchid and Black by Clearsnap.
Adhesives: Pop It! Shapes 1/4" thick by Ranger; Xyron Mega Runner; Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive

The How-To:

-In SCAL3, import the 5x7 shadow box frame from Lori Whitlock.
I ungrouped the images and put them onto separate project tabs so I could group my images by the pattern/color cardstock I wanted to cut them out in.  The back and sides of the frame are white cardstock, and for the inside and frame face I used patterned paper.   Once everything is cut out, assemble the shadow box frame.
Note: In the file there is only one piece for the back of the frame, I cut out two - one in white and one in the raindrop pattern cardstock and adhered the two together with my Xyron Mega Runner.

- In eCraft Shop Pro - resize and cut out the following:  Umbrella Ella Silhouette - 4 inches high in black cardstock; Flowers - 5 at 3 inches high and 4 at 2 inches high in white cardstock;  Rain Cloud 2 of each - 2 inches wide and 1.5 inches wide in white cardstock.

 - I used Colorbox inks on the clouds, rain drops and flowers instead of using colored cardstock. I really love the way the inks make the clouds and flowers pop with the Echo Park Hello Spring cardstock.

 - I applied the light blue ink to the rain drops, small clouds and only as an outline on the two bigger clouds. The rain drops are also outlined in black ink.

- For the flowers, apply the ink in whichever colors you prefer.  I used all of the colors in my supply list and just varied them.  After you apply the ink, take your back and front piece of the flower and attach them by inserting the brad in the center.

 - It is now time to assemble everything inside of your frame! I adhered one cloud in back of Ella and used Pop It! Shapes to adhere the others.  By stacking your Pop It! Shapes you can add a whole lot more dimension to your project.  The rain drops are adhered the same way, only I cut down my Pop It! Shape into small slivers so it would fit the rain drop.  Ella is also adhered with the Pop It Shapes, as are some of the flowers, the rest of the flowers are glued to the back of the inside.  Arrange your flowers as you see fit, I only used 17 flowers, you may want to use more or less.

And tada! A pretty spring decoration for your home!
